Yes, I’ve changed the theme for my site again.
The art that serves as the background in my header is the Feast in the House of Levi (1578), painted by the Italian artist, Veronese.
The painting was originally entitled The Last Supper, and if you look close enough you can see that very act taking place just under my moniker. But the activity depicted in the rest of the painting – namely, that of a hustling, bustling place – drew criticism from those who felt that Veronese hadn’t treated the subject with the level of respect it deserved. So, he renamed it.
I think it’s a nice painting of a traditional meal. Traditional in the sixteenth century; pretty much the same today. It fits in with what I’d like to do and where my interests sit, too.
I like it.
